Instructions:

The process to install these files is not user-friendly - as we figure out more about OpenOffice and how to create dictionaries those files
will be provided and will allow for a much easier installation.

IMPORTANT: First you will need to download and install Hunspell (a plugin for OpenOffice) if you have Open Office 2.01 (2.02 and higher does not need this).
Download it here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=143754
Follow the instructions in the downloaded file to install Hunspell into OpenOffice. Once that is done you can proceed.

You will need to copy both the km_KH.dic and km_KH.aff files into C:\Programs Files\OpenOffice.org <version>\share\dict\ooo\

Then open the dictionary.lst in the same folder and add the line: DICT km KH km_KH on its own line in the document (it doesn't matter where it is placed, just make sure it is placed in the right section of the document next to the other language files that are specified).

Then save and close.

When you open OpenOffice Writer, go to Tools --> Options

Then expand "Language settings" and click "Languages"

Here, just make sure that Khmer in the CTL place has a "ABC logo denoting that it has a spelling dictionary installed.
If not, check and make sure you did all the steps correctly.

IMPORTANT: In order to help gather a more complete word list we would request that you create a personal user dictionary and then after you have added words
send it to: sungkhum@gmail.com and we will work to include your wordlist into the main spelling dictionary.

To create your own personal user dictionary OpenOffice Writer go to Tools --> Options
Then expand "Language settings" and click "Languages"
Then click on on "Writing Aids"
After this create a new user defined dictionary by clicking on the "New..." button and name it "Khmer by [YOUR NAME HERE]"
This will be your own addition to our work in providing a good quality Khmer spelling dictionary - as you find words that are not added or that are
incorrect, please add them to this dictionary and then send the dictionary to us at: sungkhum@gmail.com

Thank you for your help,

End notes:
Please note that KhmerOS (http://www.khmeros.info) is currently working towards creating a full Khmer Unicode spelling dictionary for OpenOffice - this dictionary that SBBIC
has provided is only temporary, until KhmerOS comes out with a full dictionary - SBBIC desires to work together with all those working towards
better language tools for Khmer, and we hope that you also will do your part.
Also currently if you would like a Khmer spelling checker for Microsoft Word 2003 you may download one from PAN here: http://www.pancambodia.org/index.php?page=pands
